In River Mersey

Yesterday we went for canoeing & kayaking in River Mersey.  River Mersey runs between Stockport and Carrington.

The name 'Mersey' originated from old english word 'Maere' which means boundary and the river was the boundary of ancient kingdoms of  Mercia and Northumbria.

We reached the Rugby club to start the journey. Portage to and from the river is available at the Burnage football rugby club.

From there the instructors helped the children to put on safety jackets and gave them paddles, gave them the instructions to be followed.

The river comprises long stretches of easy touring with the occasional riffle to add the excitement.

It is a popular venue for cyclists and walkers, and there is a steady flow of  people  all the time on either banks.

                                                Great fun !!!

.

It was so fun for the children to do the Canoeing. Two canoes were attatched together, so that many children were fitted in one.

 .

There was two such canoes, instructor was with them in one

Kids were so excited, they paddled and paddled, had race between them, made lots of  noises. They spent nearly one and a half hour in canoeing

                                                                What a great fun !!

.

All children  were given half an hour for kayaking after canoeing. They all paddled,  though Annu and Munnu needed some help. It was the  first time they  both entering in canoe and Kayak.

Even if you are an inexperienced canoeist and fancy getting in water, the canoe trail is well worth a visit
