St George's day

St George's day this year celebrated on 26th April instead of 23rd. In England, St George is the patron saint. A day in our home as Geo celebrates his feast. He was looking forward to his feast.

George and his unforgettable battle against dragon always a bravery story for children. He was born in Capadicia. St Georges day commemorates the life of St George the Roman soldier and Christian martyr. The day always fancy doing something and celebrated a bit.

Georgus in bed and had pan cake as wished.

Feast day boy...Flag of England..White for peace and red for bravery.

Our chess boy and quite passionate chess player, eventually gifted with a chess box to replace the broken one....seems happy.

The day was warm and bright, gone out to play football with other home edders. Finally slaying dragon with a coloring sheet.

      Happy St George's Feast.

Divine Mercy Sunday

The Sunday after Easter is called Divine Mercy Sunday initiated by St John Paul 2. It is an opportunity to focus on the mercy of the Lord and are called to live it out in our own lives.

The image depicts darkness in the background shows presence of darkness without Christ, light illuminated around Christ. Left hand is painted towards the open wound and reminds his love and mercy for us. Right hand is bestowing blessing upon us. Red and pale rays of His love and sacraments . White robe indicates  Jesus the High priest and the image itself is of  risen Lord. At the foot end is the selfie of 'Jesus I trust in you'.

Home made Pizza decorated with pepperoni red and pale rays..

Beautiful booklet of Divine Mercy chaplet can be made.  Kids coloured a divine mercy chaplet.

After such a long time, pre teens gathered online and said the chaplet at 3pm , prayed on rosary beads. This is my favourite way to celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. Continued with narration of story of St Faustina, explanation of image and concluded with a hand craft.

The day could be a day of reconciliation and some act of mercy could be done.

Alleluia -He is Risen

He is Risen - Alleluia... I am the resurrection and the life. Here is the Easter joy this year. Though we face enormous challenges around in our journey these years, so many afflicted and affected in grief, pain, but Easter hope just sustains and make things alive ...

Famous Fresco of of Risen Lord .

Cracking the  Easter egg vigil mass . It was Jokuttans turn and all pitched in.

Paschal candle decorated and ready for the easter table with symbols of Alpha, omega which signifies Christ begining and end, five wounds of Christ and the Year 2022 is marked in the candle.

Aiming for Easter lunch and JT is the main chef. Easter lamb tradition is the reminder of Christ the Lamb of God.
An Easter Branch
It is a very decorative thing to have on Easter and fun to make with twigs that about to bud  and add bunnies etc..

Easter hunt
Children always find it fun to hunt the hidden eggs all over the house or in the garden,  unable to do on Easter morning. Instead we did it on Easter Bank Holiday.

Easter Lunch
The traditional dish for an Easter lunch is roast lamb with roast potatoes and boiled vegetables
Everywhere is filled with hope and joy in the risen Lord- nature itself bloomed with May flowers around..So beautiful.

Holy Week

Blessed to have another year  to celebrate Holy week. There was a hunt of 30 silver coins, which was hidden in different parts of house as part of Spy Wednesday commemorating the activities of traitor Judas and some money collected were given for the collection to restore  churches in Rome. It was fun for the children to find the coins and explained about denial of Judas and Peter, compared and contrast to the point  of repentance of Peter.

Holy Thursday honours the day Our Lord are His last supper with His disciples. Institution of Holy Eucharist and Priesthood. It is time to pray for those priests we know and others. At the end of mass the Blessed Sacrament will be taken away to Altar of repose and everyone can take turn to watch and praying with the Lord.  The tradition of making Pesaha drink with unleavened appam in remembrance of passover meal is common in our house as Syro Malabar rite .

Good Friday

This should be a quiet day and family day. In the morning we were so blessed to watch Passion play near Worcester Cathedral and so wonderful to see the whole play ( nearly took more than an hour and half) with their beautiful performance. Kids all enjoyed talking about Jesus. This was run by special inter church services.

     Audience gathered to watch play
Obviously this time toasted hot cross buns were served for lunch instead of breakfast. Below is the home made hot cross buns from past.

After the passion service we were back home and kids spent most time doing board games and tried without a television day. It turned out beautiful though Geo wanted it.

Some of Holy Saturday prep for Easter on its way...
