Month of September

There was not much time I kept aside for blogging last month. However,I want to drop a few lines about my favourite month of September.

We had a visit to famous writer, illustrator, conservationist Beatrix Potter's land in Cumbria. She wrote a lot of animals featuring children books including the tale of Peter Rabbit.

Beatrix lived a typical life of victorian girl looked after by governess and away from parents. She had a deep passion to drawing and painting, which took most of her spare time. Thereafter, we visited the museum with lots of her illustrations and funny quotes.

Hilltop is this amazing woman's time capsule.House full of tales, Hilltop and the surroundings is the inspiration of her stories, rhubarb patch where Jemima duck laid her egg and so on...

This is the palace where she celebrated her birthday and is missing time in the diary where she was out with her friends.

Another day at home, Feast of Our Lady of Walsingham, Lady Richeldis was brought to the place of Holy Family in the vision and Our Lady asked her to built a replica of the house in England just before Norman invasion in 1061. This shrine was built while later and it was destroyed during reformation. This was rebuilt long time later. We were very fortunate to have the statue of lady at home as part of marian voyage.

Children listened to the story and coloured some pictures and learnt the significance of picture,
following that some chocolate croissants were made, as this is one of the precious olden marian pilgrimage shrine where people come afar .

Geo and Theresu is cutting pastries and folding.

One of the important feast we had at home was Feast of Archangels, since it is the feast of of my son,Mich. Little ones were read out the story of Archangels and made some hanging chimes and  had a mini feast with home made apple crumble. It is the tradition of Michaelmas to make tarts with blackberries and have roast goose. It says blackberries are not good after this feast.Gifted some money to Mich as he is very keen in developing his little business. I learnt something new to say The chaplet of St Michael which is a beautiful prayer to say as often we can.
