All Hallows eve

It is All Hallows eve around the corner, tomorrow 31st of October . These days are beautiful days of the season reminded of souls, saints. Every year these days are packed with saints dressing ups, games and little nuggets of faith are shared. Some years with other homeedders, friends, church community and Jesus youth .

    Pumpkin Lantern/ Jack O Lantern

One of the great way is to make a lantern by slicing of the top and scoop off the flesh out of it. Different shapes can be cut and we normally do symbols of cross, eucharist and so on. When we place candle inside, reminded of the Christ light shining in us taking out the sins.

some of the beautiful blogs I am always inspired of are shower of roses, faith filled family. Printables of different foods and labels.

On All Ssints eve, there was  party organised by a one of our home educating mother. It was so lovely to meet different people from Germany, Belgiun and so on. Children dressed up in different saints. Theresu dressed up as St Agnus and Geo as St Dominic Savio.

  Playing bingo

Our table decors for the day with saints, decors and some guessing games, scavenger hunts .

Along with it, we did some crackers outside.
      Table decors

Sweeties ready to distribute for trick or treat.

St Isidore was a farmer, with deep desire to take part in Eucharist. Unfortunately or fortunately the couldn't do. God honoured his desire, many at times he prayed in the fields that time and I believe guardian angel helped his chores in the farm. . The fruit cocktail reminds the saint.

Another is St cecila with piano keys and mini saint litany booklet by kids.

All Saints Day 2015

Hallowe'en is the eve of All Hallows, All Saints.  This is the second year we are hostingAll Saints Day. Saint's day party could be fun and help us to put back on the thought that we all have to
strive to become saints before we die.

'Celebration of Hallowe'en should be linked with the fact on the next day, All Hallows, November 1, we commemorate with joy the saints, men and women, who have gone to heaven and are now rejoicing with God for ever( A Book on feasts & Seasons by Joanna Bogle).
Last year we had All Saints Day party in our house and I thought it would be better if we could do it in parish. So Fr Robinson agreed to do in his church . Though I wished to do it on All Hallows Eve with some roast marshmallows and craved pumpkins.but failed to do it as it was children's Annual Sunday School celebration and Annu was doing welcome dance with her friends. It was a great opportunity for Annu and as a whole family enjoyed her performance.

On Sunday many children dresed up as their favourite saints and as per Fr Robinson kidoos introduced their saints during homily. It was an amazing chance for the children.

Annu dressed up as St Elizabeth of Hungary,Munnu as St Stephen and I  wished to help him bit more.
Theresu dressed as St Cecilia and a harp was made using sticks from our garden and put some rubber bands on it.

There was some games prepared for the children, one was matching game. Children have to match symbols to the saints displayed.

Another was Guess how many inside jars?. Thank Lord it was a great day and I went for Holy Mass in the evening. Many ideas were borrowed from shower of roses, catholic inspired and just like me

Celebrating All Saints Day 2013

Our Home schooling group celebrated the feast of All saints. The excitement was building though we have been quite busy decorating and moving to new house . I am blogging after a long time because of my phone only got fixed a week before.

Munnu making and decorating Roman shield.

                                    Theresu with princess tiara.

Theresu tried to wear a habit and carried a bunch of roses from our garden, showing up as her patron saint St Therese of Child Jesus.

Ann Marie dressed up as St Elizabeth of Hungary, had a crown showing the sign of princess and carried a basket with fruits.Princess Elizabeth led a simple life and helped poor by giving food, built hospitals to look after the sick.
Michael dressed up as St Martin Of Tours, we made the shield and the helmet as a part of learning the history of Romans.

All the little children below 7 had their own time of making armour of God using various recycling things like milk carton, tissue rolls etc.

I think children all had a fun time 'guessing which saints others dressed up' and Jobychayan helped with 7-11 year old children teaching songs and reflective prayer.
