Mothering Sunday

The celebration of Mothers' day began hundreds of years ago. On the fourth Sunday of Lent ( Laetare Sunday) families visited their Mother church pausing from strict fasting to offer gifts and thanks. Gradually moved into girls visiting their homes as they often get a time of break from their mundane works.

Children throughout the ages have kept this beautiful mothering Sunday tradition. For me I am so blessed to be a mother of four nd two in heaven and totally agree my role models are always my mum and now mummy also. They still inspires me what I am. So many other mothers around me have a huge impact in my life including so many home educating mothers. They gave up jobs, using their whole energy, abilities, multi talents for other families too. No matter whatever they are going through, they are always beside you. Praying for all of them.

Snap with kids on the way coming home.

Cards made by Munnu n Theresu on behalf of all.

Children gave their mothers small gifts such as posy of wild flowers or a dinner cake.

" And I will to thee a simnel bring,
Against thou goest a -mothering,
So that when she blesses' thee,
Half the blessing thoust give to me"
A traditional rhyme
Every honour goes to Mary mother too as she is all our mum too.

Just tried to give some bunch of daffodils to some of our neighbouring mothers. That was my mission on Mothering Sunday...

Springy Rides

I am really feeling the changing of season. Temperatures are creeping up and beautiful chirping sounds of birds at dawn with spring sunshine, warm sunny spells is giving lot of joy within.

These days we took sometime to go out for bike ride after a while. It is a scorcher today and it feels like summer has come across early this year. Many started beach basking in the hot spring sunshine . It says Brits are also expected to swelter in one of the hottest spring ever , temperature reaching 29C this week.

Daffodils around this time of year ,  myriad colours of spring with blossoms and garden flowers.

Out for a bike ride as many were at home over the weekend

To sale water park ...

Some of the activities you can do:

Hiking, do some gardening, spring time cleaning, weekend trips , basking, dusk photo shoot, post lunch strolls , nature trip, declutter your wardrobes and give some to charity during the lenten season are some of the things we could do around this season.

Just went to Alton for a beautiful retreat and with one of the friends.
Celebrating St Patrick's day .

Just enjoying the very pleasant spell of spring weather and studies are cut down, not want to loose the sunny spells to boost the immunity too. Thank God for the lovely weather after long cold days.

Out in Reddish valley

Reddish vale park is in the heart of Stockport. There are many walks, cycle and briddleways that link with other trails. Sand martins, geese, coots are seen in the ponds and wetlands. This was a new place for a stroll we found. Lovely walk around mill ponds  with river banks.

Big arched viaduct is a beautiful sight of the valley, railway line on top to complete Romley to Ashbury line. This landscape has evolved over the time. Took one and hours to roam around sand and children enjoyed water the most as always, doing skimming with stones. Enjoyed the nice weather and the stroll.

Strove Tuesday and Lenten prep

It was Shrove Tuesday. Word 'shrive' means to repent and reminded of days ahead to  pray, fasting and alms giving. With lent coming up, pancake day is a day of feasting, carnival time in Europe preceding lenten days.... Referred as Pancake Day in England..It was great.

Anglo saxons called March Lentmonath , means ' Lenthening month', because the way that the daylight increases during this time of March. It is also where we get the word 'Lent' from.

Theresu and Geo helped with preparing pancake.
Lenten preparation with crown of things, good deed box and 40 days activities for children and adults.

Strolling in the spring eve and resting in the crocus lawn.
