Our lady of Rosary

It was the feast of Our Lady of Rosary  on Oct 7th which is also known as Our lady of Victory,  remembering the decisive victory  of Christian fleet in 1571  at the battle of Lepanto over Turks by the power of Rosary.

Pope Pius attributed the victory through the intercession of Blessed Virgin Mary, who was invoked on the day through a campaign to pray the Rosary throughout Europe to fight against the enemies. Crew members on more than 200 ships prayed the Rosary in preparation for the battle - as did Christians throughout Europe, encouraged by the Pope to gather in their churches to invoke the Virgin Mary against the daunting Turkish forces.

There is an oldest known  Marian prayer known as Sub Tuum Praesidium and it is the oldest tradition of Catholics to fly unto the  patronage and protection of Blessed Mother in times of trouble.

.

      Sub tuum praesidium
       confugimus,

Sancta Dei Genetrix.
Nostras deprecationes ne despicias
in necessitatibus nostris,
sed a periculis cunctis
libera nos semper,
Virgo gloriosa et benedicta

We fly to Thy protection,
O Holy Mother of God;
Do not despise our petitions
in our necessities,
but deliver us always
from all dangers,
O Glorious and Blessed Virgin. Amen.

Children made some edible rosary cookies  at home and decorated in the form of rosary and said a short prayer before dad leaves home in the evening
