All Saints Day 2015

Hallowe'en is the eve of All Hallows, All Saints.  This is the second year we are hostingAll Saints Day. Saint's day party could be fun and help us to put back on the thought that we all have to
strive to become saints before we die.

'Celebration of Hallowe'en should be linked with the fact on the next day, All Hallows, November 1, we commemorate with joy the saints, men and women, who have gone to heaven and are now rejoicing with God for ever( A Book on feasts & Seasons by Joanna Bogle).
Last year we had All Saints Day party in our house and I thought it would be better if we could do it in parish. So Fr Robinson agreed to do in his church . Though I wished to do it on All Hallows Eve with some roast marshmallows and craved pumpkins.but failed to do it as it was children's Annual Sunday School celebration and Annu was doing welcome dance with her friends. It was a great opportunity for Annu and as a whole family enjoyed her performance.

On Sunday many children dresed up as their favourite saints and as per Fr Robinson kidoos introduced their saints during homily. It was an amazing chance for the children.

Annu dressed up as St Elizabeth of Hungary,Munnu as St Stephen and I  wished to help him bit more.
Theresu dressed as St Cecilia and a harp was made using sticks from our garden and put some rubber bands on it.

There was some games prepared for the children, one was matching game. Children have to match symbols to the saints displayed.

Another was Guess how many inside jars?. Thank Lord it was a great day and I went for Holy Mass in the evening. Many ideas were borrowed from shower of roses, catholic inspired and just like me

Autumn 2015

Autumn is in the air and the homeschooling journey is more fun by incorporating some of the seasonal activities on the way. Since the enchanting season of autumn is here. So proud and happy to  dug the potatoes, beans, beet root and all other vegetables. The gardens, bees and fields are flowered and fruited . So thrilled to have this colourful season- cosy, chunky knits, logs, candle light...sometimes autumn can be bold and vibrant ; to see the  tones of autumn colour. The fall provides an ample opportunity to do various natural activities. You can do all sorts of learning .

Why the leaves changing colours and made some nature walks, took some nature guides from library to know more about the various British wild flowers, different trees and acorns.. Children plucked some wild flowers from the Chorlton water park and pressed it in their nature study book. As fall brings many birds flying over houses and children could notice signs of migration.

I am so happy, the smell in the air, cool night air, getting darker, leaves blowing across the street...The bounty from the plot has been enough to feed all God's creatures., to see squirrels and birds eating in our back garden.

Altar serving

As the part of ex parish priest funeral mass, Annu n  Munnu could serve as altar servers for the H Mass with bishops and priest. Still remember Fr Early who was a holy priest. Cherishing all the wonderful memories with him. Eternal rest grant upon them , may the perpetual light shine upon him. Amen.
