Celebratng advent and christmas with children

As advent has arrived and Christmas has begun, we are planning to do Jesse tree like last year.

Started doing advent calendar. Prepared our advent wreath but it was a very slow process this year.
We thought of doing Wisemen adventure tradition what we found from catholic inspired

Annnu and Munnu took part in nativity play at St Joseph Home as part of their home schooling group. Annu was a wise man and Munnu was shepherd. It was fabulous to see the efforts of each and every home schooling mums.

We went to German market during Christmas, it was beautiful to see wonderful crafts, delicious and colourful sweets from many countries especially from Germany. We enjoyed it.

.

We were aimed to do Jesse tree, unfortunately we couldn't do it properly though children tried to put as much ornaments they could do.

Following homeschooler's swimming, all the children started singing twelve days of christmasTwelve days of christmas was written in England. This is an allegory. Each of the thing in the song got a hidden meaning, helps the young catholics to learn  more about the faith.Found some information on it in shower of roses. There is a wonderful lapbook page found in homeschool share.  Song sounds very interesting, encouraged children to learn the song.

Learning France

It was St Catherine Laboure's Feast day on Nov 28th and  children were learning about her. She was a french lady which made us to think to look at France .So we thought to learn  about European countries and it  would be rather fun to start with unit study of France because  children seems to like learning countries.Started collecting books from library and thought of making lapbook.  Homeschool share has nice lapbooks on France. More informations are found in Taunya's place too

Paper toys of Eiffel tower is here and in madeby joel. Looked at few library books to know more about France, food, neighbouring countries, historical places, catholic shrines, important places, topography, historical events, map of the country and natural resources.Children made an attempt to learn a bit of french words and counting numbers from one to ten.Sounds very interesting especially to me.

Eiffel Tower  by Gustav Eiffel and its interesting facts seems to be the most fascinating thing for Munnu and Annu seems to like learning french with much passion.

Children made the map of France out of salt dough and made an attempt to label a few cities.

We learnt about French painter Claude Monet and about impressionism ( sunrise ). Looked at his famous paintings. Planning to make a lapbook on France.
